Burke takes job with Council on Aging

April 4, 2005 -- Interim Hamilton County Administrator and Department of Job and Family Services Director Suzanne Burke will become CEO of the Council on Aging of Southwestern Ohio later this spring. She submitted her resignation to Hamilton County Commissioners yesterday.

"I have enjoyed working with the JFS staff over the past three years," Burke said in an announcement to employees. "I am proud of what we have accomplished together, and I admire the fine work you do serving the people of Hamilton County."

The Council on Aging position presents an opportunity for Burke to work in the field of services to the elderly. She studied gerontology in college and was assistant administrator of the Evergreen Retirement Community in Cincinnati, 1986-88.

A start date for her new position has not been finalized, but the transition is likely over the next 90 days.

Burke stressed her support for the Summit on Residential Services, an effort to improve services to children in the public child protection system, in this letter to social service partners
